Parasurama Das

Dear Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my respectful obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
All Glories to You!

Frankly, it’s hard to write an offering once a year when one isn’t offering much otherwise.

The offering should be sincere, in a mood of a prayer, it should summon ones’ activities in the service of the Spiritual Master’s mission and should glorify the Spiritual Master!

I’ve done nothing for the mission so I can only offer sincerity and prayer. And spiritual generosity speaks of youor greatness by itself.

I am not perfect, have never been and this year was no exception. Plenty of mistakes, shortcomings, offences, etc... I could hardly say I offered any valuable service. It must be that this year was the lousiest year of my devotional career.

Recently, we heard from a sadhu that when one is at a point of questioning his commitment or lacks determination to continue, he should first consult his spiritual master and pray to him for the strength to overcome the obstacles.

Sincerely, I don’t see a spark of faith in the holy name. And in practice, the commitment to chant wherever or whenever or at least the minimum hampers and goes way under the expectations. Whatever I try to do doesn’t seem to work.
All hope seems to be gone and there is no other door I can knock on but yours. As if all others have that Dante’s saying “Abandon all hope, thee who enter”. Nothing seems to work.
I beg you to overlook these shortcomings and recognize a prayer of one who is willing to continue and is convinced he will not make the same mistake again.  And again.
And hopefully one day he may start chanting Harinam.

In a purport Srila Prabhupada says that one’s spiritual advancement depends on the attitude. Even if one makes a mistake but continues, starts anew and is convinced he will not make the same mistake again – that pleases Guru and Krsna very much and the benefit gained from that is much greater than the downsides of the mistake itself.

This summer marks the tenth anniversary of yourself awarding me the initiation. More than 10 years have gone by, much has changed on the outside, but the main instruction stays the same: chanting Hare Krsna.

So on this day I am humbly asking you to bless me again and again with some determination to continue devoting my life to the Holy Name. There is nothing else in our lives but Krsna Consciousness, really.

Hare Krsna.

Your servant
